Join us in Belize May 4 through May 11, 2019. The first cultural inhabitants of Belize were the Maya. The Spanish then ruled Belize but were never able to truly control the area. Britain gained full control from Spain in 1798, when they defeated the Spanish Armada off St. George's Caye. English speaking and Creole dominated, Belize has more in common with its Caribbean island neighbors than its bordering Spanish-speaking countries. With a laid back ambiance of swinging hammocks and an underwater world of twisted corals, neon fish, reef sharks, turtles and eels, Belize is a tropical treasure.
